You be the look out! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yes -- I restocked the retreat supply box with a spool of black and a spool of white thread, and I put a spool on the sewing machine. All set for the next retreat.

My SIL finished her quilt top and the backing last night. I have realized that my space is not configured for two people to work. Yikes! But all will be good, and I did manage to piece together one thing myself, so I was happy. It's part of the weekend homework, and I took lots of pictures, so I just need to get them into the ...

Making fabric from scraps from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I hope you all get a chance to read the comments. There are some great ones, and I need to respond to them!

One person keeps a torque wrench in their vehicle! Oh my, and the number of people who use EXCEL!!! I am very far behind the times! I'm not sure I would track some of the things people track, but hey—we each need to do what works for us!!!!

I learn so much from coming to a retreat - well, any interaction with people! They are so much smarter than I am! Yesterday, we were talking about ...

How do you measure a meter? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was a wild night! I hate it when you go to bed tired but can't fall asleep. The last couple of nights, I've been tired and tried to read my book. I could barely read a couple of pages, and I was fast asleep. Last night? Not happening. So I read more and more pages of the book. Let's say this is one of those psychological thrillers that well --- do you want to know what happens? This one is called Watch out for her" by Samantha J. Bailey, and it was creepy from the opening sentence ...

Strange sleeping arrangments from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH MY GOSH --- I feel like I'm sleeping in my nephew's basement. WAIT --- I am sleeping in a basement -it's not my nephew's. My host is a single, youngish man (used to be a bank manager, now drives a school bus, from India), and well, it's rather a very bizarre situation, but I feel perfectly safe, and you just learn to roll with the punches.

It's all a good lesson to book a hotel in advance, because you never know when a rodeo is coming to town!

And the house is in a decent ...

A little fun with AI from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The masses have spoken. There will be NO new sew-along until Colour My World is done! Let's not get ourselves into any kind of mess! Thanks for making me see the light of day! I do NOT need to start another project. And by September of next year, there might be something else we want to sew!

When I attempted to use ChatGPT to compile those documents from the QUILTsocial website, it didn't work. Someone mentioned that ChatGPT wasn't really meant to scrape data from websites. It creates things, but it doesn't do the dirty work ...

Tick tock from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh great --- the blog got scammed with many comments, and I don't have time to deal with it this morning. As a matter of fact, this blog post will be kind of short as I'm running short on time!

However, there is good news, but I didn't seem to have taken many pictures yesterday.

The binding was finished on that last quilt! Yeah!! I also remembered several other quilts that would be appropriate for this show, so they were pulled and packed into the suitcases.

One more machine embroidery design was completed, and I've packed supplies ...

Make that binding! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I was never a person to take supplements. What do I need those for when I am eating "whole" foods? I've come to realize that unless I grow whole foods in my nonexistent garden, I'm probably not getting all the nutrition I need. Additionally, our bodies change as we age and are no longer able to produce the same supplements we need. And that whole bone density thing. So I take Vitamin D and Calcium for that. The vitamin D was on the "order" from the doctor, and the Calcium thing is mine. I take a multi-vitamin, and ...

A puzzling affair from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Hmmm - about the manual shifting in the car. I'm not so sure it's "manual" shifting because you have to change from reverse to drive or park. I am not accustomed to driving a North American car, and I find it awkward. I'm always trying to remember how to get into reverse and then into drive. With most automatic vehicles, you simply turn a knob or shift the gear stick to shift into each gear. With this one, getting into each gear requires a DIFFERENT move of the stick. I'm definitely not a fan. But no worries ...

Long Day - Looking For Something To Do from Quilting My Way

It's been a long day. I played my game for a bit, then I wanted to find something to do. I had till 1 pm when the "war" game was on.

I decided to put my beading stuff together. I laid everything out and thought I could do a row or two. OH NO! Not in my lifetime! I had to count the rows to make sure I was on track - that was. As it turned out, I was missing a bead. Not sure where the tube was or if I used that color for something else. I went ...

Thrift store finds from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

AHA -- we have it from a produce manager that bananas come in the box in bunches, NOT singles. So, can you tell me why people remove one banana from the bunch and leave it behind? If I were a produce manager, that would drive me BANANAS. I would stand there and watch the consumer and then ask them why they did that. If you want five bananas, pick up a bunch with five; don't pick up one with six and remove one. That's just silly. I still think the grocery store should give us a discount on those ...

Happy People! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Remember I said I was feeling overwhelmed the other day? Why? A lot is happening in the next few months, and I ignored my schedule and work-related tasks during the holidays. As soon as I started putting things on paper in the form of a plan, the overwhelming thoughts were gone!

Does it have to be an elaborate plan? No! You can type it out or write it on the back of a napkin, but if writing it out gets you back in control, that's all that counts. I have not completed the task, but I'm well on ...

New Year's Eve 2024 from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's hard to believe, but it's New Year's Eve 2024. Tomorrow, a new year begins with many goals, aspirations, and plans. I don't make resolutions, although how different is a resolution from a goal?

Remember, we do NOT need New Year's Day to make improvements in our lives. EVERY DAY is a new day, and if you screw up one day, you can restart the next day!

So, consider making the Stand-up/Sit-down exercise a goal for 2025. You can start at any time, at any age, and at any ability! Yes, even if you ...

Still Not There Yet from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up while Patrick slept.  He spent most of the day in bed. He did come out to the living room for a bit.

I pretty much played my games and watched TV with the shows on Britbox.

I decided to start another puzzle.  The first one I wanted to do was all put together and was told to makes sure it's all there with the alphabet on the back, then take it apart.  I was half way with taking it apart and called it done. Then went downstairs to get another one.

Another Bad Day from Quilting My Way

This morning Patrick was up and down. He didn't get much sleep and neither did I.

I made him stay in bed most of the day. Kept bringing him something to drink or eat. He wasn't doing much of either. He is way too weak for my liking.  His back is a little better, but stiff. Around 3 pm, I had him coming into the living room so I could change the bedding.

I pretty much cleaned up and played my games. I didn't want to make a lot of noise and I kept busy with laundry ...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from Quilting My Way

As much as I would love to say today was a fun Thanksgiving with just the 2 of us, it wasn't.

Patrick woke after me. He is still having trouble with his back. On top of that he's stomach is acting up.

So my day was spend washing laundry and being quiet so he could sleep on the couch. Katt and Phil called. Katt only talked to me because Patrick wasn't up to it. He didn't eat much and betting he didn't drink much either. Teri come over for ice.

Our Thanksgiving will be this ...

Casino Yesterday, Relaxed Today from Quilting My Way

Yesterday we traveled to the Quinalt casino in Ocean Shores WA. The was for our Anniversary gift to each other. It was an all day trip. Takes 2 hours to get there. Sandy V lives over there and didn't realize what a trip that is fir her every Monday.  Patrick won $1,250 jackpot.  We played really well the first  hour and a half.  Then other 2 hours they took our money.  Good news is we came home with $700 ahead. So, we stopped off at the House of BBQ on the way home.

Today has been working on ...

Squashing the quilting myths from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Sometimes, I get asked how I do so much in a day. There are a couple of reasons:

  1. I don't watch TV and try to keep my screen time (Facebook and Instagram) to an absolute minimum. 30 minutes daily is a good goal because it's a massive time waster. I don't do Pinterest, which I've heard is a black hole. I'm also highly selective about what I stream and attempt to avoid clickbait at all costs. That is clutter for the mind—I no longer cope with clutter.
  2. I can start work the minute I ...

Misses at the thrift store! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my goodness --- I guess I'm not alone in getting mail for the previous owners of our houses. What surprises me is how much of this stuff there is around and what that is costing the world in general. In terms of postage, paper, and resources, it's insane. There must be a way for these companies to write a small program and run it annually to find mailings to the same address with different names. A quick follow-up would eliminate the duplication. I may never get it resolved. And YES - years ago, I sent the letters back, with ...

One Of My Busier Days from Quilting My Way

This morning Patrick left for golf. I was glad he's back to golfing. I wonder about the chemo he's on now.

After he left, I got up and got ready to go walking with Ron. We decided to make it early today. Then came in and decided to work on my puzzle while playing my game.

I finally finished it. I think it's really cute and was a lot of fun to work on. It's done, and tomorrow I will clean it up. May give it to mom to see if she wants to put it ...

Enjoyed Time With Mom from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was up and playing my game by 6:30 am. I slept really well and when I woke, I couldn't go back to sleep. Even when I wanted to!

I heated up the quilt room downstairs and was about ready to go down when mom called to say her washer wasn't working. She had wet clothes in the wash and need to get them spin dried. She also asked if she could bring another load over to do. I told her that was fine. The washer is scheduled to be fixed or looked at on ...
